2016 Reinsurance Contribution Rate
On the heels of the payment of first round of Reinsurance Contributions, the Department of Health and Human Services has issued the 2016 contribution rate. As anticipated, the fees were “front-loaded” with the higher amounts due in earlier years, with decreasing amounts due as the program continues. For 2014 (paid in 2015), the rate is $63 per individual, for 2015 (paid in 2016), the rate is $44 per individual and for 2016 (paid in 2017) the rate is $27 per individual covered by the Plan. Plan sponsors will welcome this decrease in future years.
