As part of the 2017 workplace wellness survey conducted by the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans (IFEBP), the IFEBP calculated the top five illnesses affecting health plan costs. They are, in order:

  1. Diabetes

  2. Cancer

  3. Arthritis

  4. Obesity

  5. Heart Diseases

Plan sponsors should continue to work with plan professionals on examining potential cost containment measures for these expensive and often chronic conditions.
